At first I thought that there does need to be some riders on the first bend but then it somehow works because the road serves to lead the eye into the picture to where the riders are on the ridge line. Nice atmosphere, like the light streaming past the background mountains
Yep -- cool pic

... and taken with a D40; who needs expensive cam's, huh?
Yup - that's exactly the spot.

I'm hoping the green is going hit this weekend
The seasons come and go but Max still rides a Chameleon
I like it - cool pic
A REALLY great composition but technically not very well executed; in capture & post.

"There's nothing worse than a fuzzy picture of a sharp concept" ... or something like that
Good work Luka!
... and not bad for a Canon Ixus
@dh_lisa your comment is right on the money so far, I like it

"Frauen die besser fahren als Männer, das geht nicht."

@freeride_bogl: funny too, "wenn ich groß bin werd ich bikechicksfotograf"

@Marina: how is the photo simply bad, what would you change to make it good? Not sure I agree with the second half of your comment about the Bild der Woche: "Brenden Fairclough whipping it", "Joe Schwarz in Bolivia", "Herbst in Vorarlberg" are all high quality and worthy photos, with two having >100 appreciable votes. Hoshi's pic is unquestionably a great pic - awesome action, technically well done and captured at the right moment. It doesn't come much better than that.

As to the photo comments, well, some above were bordering on constructive I guess. Wide angle distortion: yep. 14mm full frame with the rider close and near the edge then this is going to happen. Could have stepped back a little and/or recomposed to center. Or used a longer lens. But I don't think distortion is too bad, since, mainly with these lenses it's the wheels that get stretched out of shape. Bine's right arm is bigger but you could say this makes her fitness stand out more. And she *is* fit

Photo is unsharp? Well, it's panning, right? Background is blurred plus the wheel spin. Goes with the technique. What matters to me the most using this technique is that her face is sharp together with the leading edge of the bike.

Oversaturated: To some yes, to others no. Depends on taste. Actually, I think in the calendar this pic has come up fine. Perhaps the purple gloves and the red wheels are not a good match.

Anyway...

@dh_lisa -> You win, your comment is cool! PM me your address and I'll send you a calendar I'm heading out the country at the weekend so I'll get it in the post to you before then.

And as Switcherer said above...

RIDE ON SABINE
I think it's a really cool pic that captures the atmosphere at this time of year very well. Congrat's to the photographer since I know night time pics are very hard to do

To all the trash talkers above: why don't you post some of your own night pics so we can critique them too? Trash talk all you like but only if you can do better

@giromechaniker: go and help your mother with the hoovering, it'll pass the time until Fireman Sam comes on
Nice 1 Hoshi
Yep, Nikkor 10.5mm fisheye
Nein, weil es nicht bearbeitet ist.

Es liegt warscheinlich an der Kamera - Nikon D300
Chaps,

No fish-eye, actually taken with a Tokina 11-16mm wide angle.

Thanks for the comments
