Die beiden neuseeländischen Brüder Ben und Craig Oliver mischten auf der sechsten Etappe ebenfalls vorne mit.
An der Spitze drückten, wie bereits an den Tagen zuvor, vor allem die Südafrikaner Marco Joubert und Tristan Nortje aufs Tempo.
Es folgten einzig das Team Scott-SRAM, das Wilier-Vittoria-Duo und das Klimatiza Orbea-Team um Marc Stutzmann und Samuele Porro.
