Nach und nach verkleinerte sich die Spitzengruppe, sodass am Ende nur noch Howard Grotts / Matthew Beers (beide im Bild) und Samuele Porro / Fabian Rabensteiner an der Spitze zurückblieben.

Marc Stutzmann und Andreas Seewald waren zwischenzeitlich auch Teil der reduzierten Spitzengruppe.

Die Schwäche der Spitzenteams in der Gesamtwertung versuchten andere Teams zu nutzen, die bisher noch nicht zu sehr in Erscheinung getreten sind.
