Bei den Damen hat Candice Lill kurzzeit das Kommando übernommen. Die Südafrikanerin hat die Konkurrenz aber im Schlepptau.

Samara Sheppard fährt ein starkes Cape Epic. Im Vorjahr hätte diese Performance vermutlich zu einigen Tagessiegen geführt. In diesem Jahr sind mit Ghost und Cannondale allerdings zwei sehr starke Paarungen am Start.

Matt Beers wagt einen ersten Vorstoß und testet die Konkurrenz an. Die zeigt sich zunächst unbeeindruckt, doch schon kurze Zeit später im ersten Anstieg zerbröselte das große Feld der Elite-Teams.
