Nebst Tig and Fillet brazed crowns, the early forks still have oversized studs for brake installation as they were popular in the beginning - so diamterer changes where Wtb power bosses are not using the stainless adapter sleeves. Instead they make use of slightly thicker brass bushings to boot. Both Type brakesn oldw and older could theoretically be used on both studs given that the correlating bushings would be exchanged.
Funfact boss placement also varied depending on whether a fork or frame was intended for compact or standard arm length on those brakes. The shorter arms were thought out by Charlie initially to fit his bikes but only reintroduced in the late 80s under Wtb (brakearms in short version then upon only came undrilled & made by DKG. The earliest compact brakearms were made for his most powerfull, super intricate push toggle brakes and in small numbers, similar to his last batch of entirely handmade brakes.
